The Lindenwood Lions football team pulls out a 33-18 victory over Murray State (0-8) on Saturday Oct.22nd in St.Charles, Mo. It was “Homecoming” for the Lions (5-2) who have been showing that they belong in Division 1 football.

The Lions started the game off slow, as Murray State jumped out to a 12-0 lead over the Lions in the first quarter. Lindenwood had to check themselves after the first quarter, but began to take control in the second quarter. Cade Brister was able to find Kobe Smith for a 39 yard touchdown pass to make the game 12-7 Murray State. Murray State was able to extend the lead on their next drive by moving the ball into field goal range, where Aaron Baum knocked in a 22 yard field goal. Now leading the Lions 15-7.

At this point the Lions really showed that they were in control, with just about 5 minutes left in the second quarter. Lindenwood added another touchdown when Cade Brister found Payton Rose for a 27 yard touchdown pass. The Lions still trail 15-14 with a little over a minute left in the second quarter. After the punt the Lions were able to knock in a 45 yard field goal by Logan Seibert before halftime taking the lead for the first time of the game 15-17 Lions.

Murray State came out of halftime still putting up a fight with the Lions, punching a 32 yard field goal by Aaron Baum taking the lead back to 18-17 Murray State. That would be the last time Murray State gets on the board as they did move the ball down to Lindenwood redzone, before Darian Bolden makes the play of the game by intercepting Jayden Stinson from Murray State and taking it back for a 99 yard interception touchdown return. Giving the Lions an 18-24 lead over Murray State.
